This common mistake in marketing will cause you a lot of trouble - How to make your marketing hard to kill

If you’re a business owner who’s depending on only one source of leads…
You NEED to read this, to prevent running into a massive mistake. Let’s get into it.
When I started this business I ran an Ad account for a local business. We were doing pretty good let me tell you. The ROAS was +/- 3.
This means for every 1 euro we spent, we were getting 3 back.
We were on a good way to get to +/- 4 or 5. Which is illegally good.
It was perfect, everyone was making good money, everyone was happy.
Seems almost like, nothing can go wrong right? That’s what we always think…
And then it comes, the worst business mistake...
I still remember the day like yesterday, I woke up with a message on the top of my phone.
No leads are coming in.
No leads are coming in? What the hell is that supposed to mean? The Ads are running perfectly.
So I checked on Meta and what did I see?
Right… They shut down the Ads and blocked the account.
I mean, who would have thought about that right? I could’ve imagen anything. But that? Meta shuts down MY ADS?
So I’ve done what everyone would do. I contacted customer service, and………
No chance to speak with a human being.
Wow, seems like you need to spend hundreds of thousands a month to not be considered a small fish anymore right?
Day after day I send ticket after ticket. Three days go by till I get an answer.
(A miracle I guess…)
Turns out my ad account got blocked because someone somewhere thought that the ads were ‘possibly misleading’.
Keep in mind, these are regular ads for the type of business I advertised for. There’s nothing particularly weird or off putting about them.
So I get embroiled into a ton of discussions and in the meantime there are ZERO leads coming in.
(Which by the way is the worst thing that can happen)
Why?
Because I made the dumbest mistake you can do not just in marketing, but in business as a whole…
I got dependent on ONE source of leads.
The worst number in business, is ONE, everyone knows this!
At first I blamed facebook and a whole lot of other things.
But once it hit me… I realized it’s ALL MY FAULT
Who would have thought about that? But it seems like…Even I can make mistakes. ;)
I failed miserably because I got dependent on only one source of getting leads in.
A mistake I’ll never make again.
One big client.
One source of leads.
One key staff person.
Even one bank account.
And what happens if One of them is taken away for whatever possible reason?
Right! You’re dead in the water.
That’s the nasty thing with business.
Everything that CAN go wrong, eventually DOES go wrong.
So I set out to fix this issue and vowed to never get in that position ever again. ⠀
Making Your Marketing Hard To Kill
I make it a non-negotiable to spot the “ones” in my business.
Because every “one” is an attack vector.
A vulnerability waiting to be exploited. Ticking thermonuclear bombs ready to destroy…
You get the picture.
And don’t ignore a “one” just because you’ve convinced yourself that “this one is different”.
Narrator voice: “this one wasn’t different.”
Now, when it comes to marketing this means you need to understand that we’re always looking to make an ad work… and then we breach it out across many different platforms.
Your Meta ads are working? Awesome!
Let’s look at google.
And youtube.
And offline.
And direct mail.
And cold emails.
And cold calls.
And autoresponder marketing.
And affiliate marketing.
And referral marketing.
And anything else we can think of.
If you don’t want to make the same big mistake I did once upon a time… then this is the only dependable way to become ‘Hard to Kill’ or ‘Hard to Cancel’.
